Verna Satala, from Florida, went fishing with her brother tonight. They were Crappie fishing along the Dam Face when a monster Smallmouth Bass gulped down the minnow. She was using a #6 Crappie hook, on 6 lb test line. They were able to land the fish. It was 19 Inches long and weighed 3.40 pounds. It was full of eggs and was released unharmed.

Verna’s Smallmouth is a new record for Shabbona Lake. The previous record was 18 3/4″, 3.05 pounds caught last year, also along the Dam Face.
