Shabbona Lake Sportsman Club was founded on May 3, 1982. It is the one and only Sportsman Club dedicated to assisting Shabbona Lake State Park. The Club has received numerous awards from the Illinois Department Of Natural Resources for the many projects the club has undertaken over the years.
The Club meets the 2nd Sunday of the month. Dues are $25 a year. Three of the most popular projects the club does annually are :
- Fishing Rearing Pond Draining – Usually around the Second Saturday in October
- Rockfest – The 1st Saturday in February
- Muskie Rescues below the spillway as needed after heavy rainfalls
