The Village of Shabbona has appointed an economic Development Committee to research economic growth potentials for the Village. The committee is made up of local leaders from the Village. The committee has directed that an economic survey of additional Amenities, Activities and Attractions for the citizens of Shabbona and visitors to Shabbona Lake State Park be compiled.

The Village of Shabbona is a vibrant community with unlimited potential. Among the assets are: Shabbona Lake State Park, Native American History, Indian Oaks Country Club, Chief Shabbona Forrest Preserve, Indian Creek School District 425 and the Shabbona Industrial Park.

Shabbona Lake State Park annually draws over 425,000 visitors The Park was constructed in the early 1970’s and as of 2011, the Park had attracted over 12 million visitors. In 2011, Shabbona Lake was declared both the “Muskie Capitol of Illinois” and “Illinois Best Fishing Lake” by a Proclamation of the Illinois General Assembly. It has proven to be an economic boom to Southern DeKalb County. But, there is potential for so much more!!!

Please assist us in compiling the survey, so we can better serve the needs of local citizens and visitors to Shabbona Lake State Park. Your opinions are vital to the growth of Shabbona.
