As some of you have seen me out there casting for musky, you have also seen my son casting out the back end of the boat. Yesterday he picked out a blue n white floating J-7 and it proved to be a lucky choice. I turned around to the sound of drag and reluctantly set my rod down to get him out of what i thought was another snag. Upon grabbing his rod i felt a head shake and immediately handed it back and said “just keep crankin buddy”. The drag on his shakespear was a little loose but proved to be enough. After about 3-4 min she came up and was netted succesfully. Im not big on keeping fish but as soon as i went for the release he started to cry and sais”i wanna take it home for mama”. there was definately a lot of luck with this one but to watch him do it will last a lifetime for me and him. I rose a couple smaller musky with no hookups and we went on to grab up 8 crappie to complete what will be a well earned meal on mothers day. – Submitted by J.J. DeBernardi on 5/14/2012
