Its going to be a fun weekend! Rockfest, the Shabbona Lake Sportsman Club’s annual habitat event, starts it off Saturday morning at 9 AM. This event is open to the Public and we encourage everyone to attend. At Rockfest we cut a large 4′ x 4′ hole in the ice with a chain saw. Then we drag large rocks and boulders across the ice on sleds pulled by ATV’s or snowmobiles. As the sleds pass over the holes, the rocks drop down into the water. As the rocks pile up on the lake bottom, the rocks form a large rock pyramid. Help if you can!!! Bring your ATV or snowmobile!!!Night Ice Fishing – This will be the second Night Ice Fishing Event of 2014. The Park will be open till 10 PM. You are allowed to fish till 9:30 PM, and you must be out of the Park by 10 PM. If you have never participated in this event, you are really missing something. It is quite a sight as sundown approaches and the lake light up with lanterns, creating the look of a miniature village on the ice.

Pokanoka’s will be open from 11 – 4, stop in for a sandwich or a hot chocolate.

Lakeside Bait, Tackle and Boat Rental will be open 8 AM – 5 PM. ​

And I haven’t even mentioned the great Crappie, Bluegill & Catfish fishing we are expieriencing this ice fishing season!!!
