June 2 & 3 Fishing Report at Shabbona Lake

Another great weekend of fishing again with the Largemouth bass getting back t normal after their spawn!! As others have said the water temps did change quite a bit from 73 last weekend in some spots to 66 degrees this weekend. Water clarity was a little more stained still have about 2ft clarity fishing vertical, dragging bottom and slip bobber were the ticket all weekend. Crawlers and leeches are working great crawlers some days and leeches the next. Seemed the lighter weight was best for me giving the bait time to fall and let the fish see it. When i fish bottom i like to use a slip sinker set up with main line has the bullet weight on it tied to a barrel swivel then 100% flouricarbon for about a 12 to 18 inches with an octopus hook or tru turn hook to finish it. This allows the fish to pick up your bait without feeling any weight especially walleye they seem to feel weight and let go immediatley. Also another good thing to start doing is use barbless hooks or press down your barb with longnose pliers when walleye fishing so when they gut hook themselves it is easier to get the hook out without causeing damage to the fish. Here are some pics from the weekend with Tim catching some awesome fish!! Jim
