Shabbona’s Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental announces that the 3rd Annual SIX “Fishing Opens” in 2011. These “Opens” will be held the 3rd Saturday of each month, from April 2011 through September 2011.
The “Opens” are open to everyone. The “Opens” are meant for everyday fisherpersons who are there to enjoy and respect Shabbona Lake.
(Fishing Opens are friendly tournaments, not the opening day for a particular species)
2011 Shabbona Lake Fishing Open Dates
April 16th Walleye Open 6 AM – 7 PM
May 21st Crappie Open 6 AM – 7 PM
June 18th Bass Open 6 AM – 7 PM
July 16th Bluegill Open 6 AM – 7 PM
August 20th Catfish Open 6 AM – 7 PM
September 17th Muskie Open 6 AM – 7 PM
Each Open will occur on the 3rd Saturday of the month.
Walleye Open Winner Heaviest single legal Walleye (18+”)
Crappie Open Winner Heaviest Crappie Stringer, up to limit of ten fish (Family Stringer)
Bass Open Winner Heaviest single legal Bass (14+”)
Bluegill Open Winner Heaviest Bluegill Stringer, up to limit of ten fish (Family Stringer)
Catfish Open Winner Heaviest Catfish Stringer, up to limit of six fish
Muskie Open Winner Longest Muskie of the Day
*** A family stringer will be allowed at the Crappie & Bluegill Opens, this does not include boat partners that are not part of your immediate family (Mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, or grandparents only)
We will have 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes. $100, $50, $25. Weigh in will be at Lakeside. Fish may be registered anytime during the hours listed above.
We will have a Walleye stocking donation jar, set up at Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental, for each event. If you donate $5.00 or more to the Walleye Fund, and you place 1st in the event, your cash prize will be doubled.
Pokanoka’s Cafe will also be offering its famous “Dollar Day Specials” on each of those days.
