This year, we have seen a dramatic increase in Kayaks and Canoes at Shabbona Lake. Over the years small fishing boats have enjoyed the protection of the 10 horsepower limit at Shabbona Lake.

Now, another growing group of outdoor enthusiasts are flocking to Shabbona Lake also. They feel safe, away from larger boats, bigger engines and jet skis.

With the limited staff of consevation officers statewide, even lakes with no wake sometimes are dangerous to them. Places like Shabbona Lake are a rare find for our new Kayak and Canoe friends.
