Visitors can picnic at any of three major day use areas situated along the western shore of the lake. Parking, water and rest rooms are available, as well as horseshoe pits. Shelters may be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact the park office to make reservations.

Are there signs from the main entrance that will direct us to the day use areas for picnicking? Are tables available throughout the day use area that are not under the shelter? Is there a cost to reserve the shelters?
Kim,
Shelter reservations are handled by the State Park office. You can call them at 815-824-2106 or use http://www.ReserveAmerica.com to reserve a shelter. I would recommend you contact the State Park office in regards to the placement of the tables throughout the park. They will have a better idea on where they have placed tables. Yes, there is a cost to reserve the shelters. Please check with the State Park office or see http://www.ReserveAmerica.com for the fees.
We own and operate the concessions (cafe, bait shop, camp store) so we do not have much information on the outdoor picnic areas.
Sorry
Becky
Are there names or site numbers for the shelters? Also, where are they located within the park? I can’t seem to locate good information on the shelters from the website.
Hi Amy,

I will work with the State Park office to add more information about the shelters on the website.

Do you offer Barbecue grills or do we have to supply our own?
There are some grills located throughout the park. For exact locations please call the State Park office at 815-824-2106.
